SoundSelf June 2026 Update: Adjunctive Sessions, Albums, and Redesigned UI for Ketamine and Spravato Practices

By Robin Arnott

Before you update - important: This is a major release that changes the back end, so the in-app updater may not be enough. You may need to do a manual reinstall using the SoundSelf Recovery mini-app on your tablet desktop. Please watch this short how-to first: How to Install the June 2026 SoundSelf Update

Hey everybody. Really glad to share what's been happening with SoundSelf. This update has been a long time coming - a lot of the work is infrastructure you won't see directly, but it's what allows us to ship content on a much more regular basis going forward. And there are a few things in here I've been very eager to get into your hands.

Here's the full demo walkthrough if you'd like to see everything in context:

What's New in the June 2026 SoundSelf Update

The June 2026 release adds two new content types - Albums and Adjunctive Sessions - alongside a fully redesigned UI, a session timer, guided calibration, and the ability to run SoundSelf while charging. Here's what each one means for your practice.

New content types

When you open SoundSelf now, the structure will look familiar - but alongside the Sonoflore sequences you're used to, you'll see two new content categories.

Albums

This is the first time we've released non-interactive content in SoundSelf. Albums are lights and music only - no microphone, no vocal toning required. Your client simply lies back and receives. The music was composed by our audio director Lorna Dune and is designed with vibroacoustic use in mind. Right now there's a 40-minute album and a 60-minute album, with more on the way.

Adjunctive sessions

This is the one I've been most excited to share. These sessions were built with direct input from our practitioners and are designed specifically to run alongside another primary intervention - ketamine, Spravato, acupuncture, or really anything where you want your client sensorially or psychologically engaged while something else is happening. The goal is to support sensory immersion and help the client stay open to the experience - not to replace or replicate the primary treatment.

There are two formats:

  • Single-stage - a 40-minute SoundSelf session with minimal voiceover, so the client can stay fully immersed without being pulled out by guidance.
  • Dual-stage - specifically designed around the Spravato REMS protocol, though it works with other interventions too. It's a 1 hour 40 minute total experience with a built-in break at the 40-minute mark for a vitals check. You can run it as 40 minutes of SoundSelf, then break, then the 60-minute album - or invert it: 40-minute album, then break, then a 40-minute SoundSelf sequence (1 hour 20 total). The design is to keep the client meaningfully engaged across the full two-hour REMS monitoring window without disrupting the care protocol.

It's working well with the practices we're collaborating with. If you're doing ketamine or Spravato work, I'd strongly encourage you to try it.

Note: Albums and adjunctive sessions both require an Evolution subscription. You can get that from the Get Evolution button inside the app.

Redesigned UI

We've put a lot of work into the interface this cycle - both to make things smoother for you and your colleagues to operate, and to make it more polished overall. The old black alpha-stage background is gone. Sessions now open with a proper visual sequence.

Every session starts with a calibration step. Lorna's voice guides the client through giving you verbal feedback on headphone volume, microphone levels, and vibroacoustic intensity before you begin. This matters: lights that are too bright are the most common cause of anxiety in SoundSelf. Getting the calibration right makes a real difference to how someone experiences the session.

Once you're running, you'll see:

  • A timer showing how much time is left, so you can step away if needed
  • A stage indicator at the top so you always know where you are in the sequence
  • A darkened background when the immersive portion begins
  • An end-of-session reminder to give your client a gentle landing - a cup of tea, no pressure to talk right away. SoundSelf can leave people in a very somatic, non-verbal place, and a quiet cup of tea is a nice way to honor that. If you're not already doing it, I recommend it.

For dual-stage sessions, an additional menu surfaces at the vitals check interval.

There are also troubleshooting buttons throughout calibration that will walk you through the most common issues step by step if anything isn't working.

Run while charging

You can now power SoundSelf while running a session - no more managing battery life mid-treatment. It does require a specific wall charger. Just reach out to me directly and I'll sort you out.

Smoother performance overall

The back-end infrastructure got a significant overhaul this cycle. The software runs smoother, and it's what makes more regular content releases possible going forward.

How to Install the June 2026 SoundSelf Update

Because the back end changed substantially, the in-app updater may not be enough this time. You may need to do a manual reinstall using the SoundSelf Recovery mini-app - it's a small application that lives in the SoundSelf Recovery folder on your tablet desktop, and it's specifically there for situations like this. It pulls the update directly from our server.

What's Coming Next

A few things I can share now:

Female voiceover guidance - one of the most-requested features. We're adding a female voice option for each session so you can choose at the start based on your client's preference.

A 7-minute introductory sequence - a short teaching session for first-timers. Right now I recommend starting new clients with a full 40-minute Sonoflore session, but this will give you a gentler on-ramp to teach the basics before moving into the main experience.

Wisdom sessions - this one is close to my heart. Over several years of attending ceremony with a ceremonial vocalist in Guatemala, I've been recording his teachings and transmissions. They're profound and beautiful, and I've been sitting with them for a while. We're integrating them into longer SoundSelf sessions for practitioners and clients who want to go deeper and are ready to receive something more contemplative. I'm really looking forward to getting these out.

As always, if you have questions, run into anything, or want to share how this is landing with your clients - please reach out. I want to hear from you.

Thanks so much.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is new in the SoundSelf June 2026 update? The June 2026 update introduces two new content types - Albums (non-interactive light-and-music sessions) and Adjunctive Sessions designed to run alongside ketamine, Spravato, or other primary interventions - plus a redesigned UI with guided calibration, a session timer, stage indicators, and the ability to run SoundSelf while charging.

What are SoundSelf adjunctive sessions? Adjunctive sessions are SoundSelf experiences built to run concurrently with a primary clinical intervention such as ketamine or Spravato treatment. They come in two formats: a 40-minute single-stage session with minimal voiceover, and a dual-stage format totaling up to 1 hour 40 minutes that is structured around the Spravato REMS two-hour monitoring window, with a built-in break at the 40-minute mark for a vitals check.

Do adjunctive sessions work with the Spravato REMS protocol? Yes. The dual-stage adjunctive session is specifically structured around the Spravato REMS monitoring protocol, with a built-in break at the 40-minute mark for a vitals check. The sequence can be run in either order - SoundSelf first, then album, or album first, then SoundSelf - to fit your clinic's workflow without disrupting the care protocol.

What are SoundSelf Albums?
Albums are SoundSelf's first non-interactive content - lights and music only, with no microphone or vocal toning required. The client simply lies back and receives. The music was composed by SoundSelf's audio director Lorna Dune with vibroacoustic use in mind. There is currently a 40-minute album and a 60-minute album, with more on the way. Albums require an Evolution subscription.

Do the new sessions require an Evolution subscription?
Yes. Both Albums and Adjunctive Sessions require an Evolution subscription, which you can activate from the Get Evolution button inside the app. The redesigned UI, guided calibration, and installation improvements are available to everyone.

How do I install the June 2026 SoundSelf update?
Because this release changed the back end substantially, the in-app updater may not be enough on its own. You may need to do a manual reinstall using the SoundSelf Recovery mini-app, a small application in the SoundSelf Recovery folder on your tablet desktop that pulls the update directly from our server. Please watch the short how-to video before you begin: How to Install the June 2026 SoundSelf Update.

Can I run SoundSelf while it is charging?
Yes. You can now power SoundSelf while running a session, so you no longer have to manage battery life mid-treatment. It does require a specific wall charger - reach out directly and we will get one sorted for you.

What is the calibration step and why does it matter?
Every session now opens with a guided calibration step, where Lorna's voice walks the client through giving feedback on headphone volume, microphone levels, and vibroacoustic intensity before the session begins. Calibration matters because lights that are too bright are the most common cause of anxiety in SoundSelf. Getting it right makes a meaningful difference to how someone experiences the session.

Do adjunctive sessions replace the primary treatment?
No. Adjunctive sessions are designed to run alongside a primary intervention and support sensory immersion, helping the client stay open to the experience. They are not intended to replace or replicate the primary treatment or care protocol.

What features are coming next to SoundSelf?
Several additions are in progress: a female voiceover option for each session, a 7-minute introductory sequence to gently onboard first-time clients, and Wisdom sessions that integrate recorded teachings from a ceremonial vocalist into longer, more contemplative SoundSelf experiences.
