SoundSelf First-Time Set-Up Guide for PC with Light Only

Congratulations on your enrollment into the SoundSelf therapeutic beta. This set-up will usually take about 30 minutes.

We recommend that after you set up the hardware, you take a break before testing it for yourself. It is best to release the linear focused attention that you’ll engage in the set up process, so that you might experience SoundSelf from an attitude of relaxed curiosity.

Please carefully follow these simple steps to ensure a smooth and successful set up.

If you have any questions, you may reach us via the contact form at the bottom of the page.

Step 1: Download SoundSelf

You can download the latest version of SoundSelf here, or by clicking the button below. Install SoundSelf before proceeding with the set-up instructions.

Step 2: Set up SoundSelf on your computer with the Kasina glasses

SoundSelf Professional Setup

  1. This process will take roughly 20 minutes.

  2. Welcome to SoundSelf Professional! Your box includes a Kasina Mindplace AVS Device, Corsair HS70 Professional Headphones, and a USB Hub.

  3. Please download SoundSelf Professional from the links above.

  4. Unbox your Kasina and plug the USB cable into the top port of the device. This is how your Kasina device connects to your computer.

  5. Next, on the Kasina please connect the Glasses cable into the 3.5mm port on the bottom right side of the device into the port with the glasses icon. We will not be using the other ports.

    1. Power on the device with the button at the top (hold for 1 second).

    2. Please dim the lights to 50% with the buttons on the right side of the device. In the future, you can adjust the brightness here per your clients’ preferences.

  6. Unbox your Corsair HS70 Pro headphones and make note of the USB Dongle as well as the Microphone attachment.  Please Note: there is a rubber stopped on the left side of the headphones where the microphone inserts.

    1. Please plug in the USB dongle to your computer and install the Microphone attachment to the headphones.

    2. Power on the device with the square button on the bottom left side of the Headphones.

    3. Take note of the microphone-mute button on the back of the left headphone. If at any point you see the “Microphone Muted” icon while running SoundSelf, this is likely the culprit. Note that the warning is triggered by a very low microphone signal, and so false positives, while rare, do occur. Tap the microphone to confirm.

  7. If you are using a vibroacoustic bed, make sure your Operating System has selected the audio port you are using for the vibroacoustic bed as the default audio output. On most computers, this is just the headphone out.

  8. With the Kasina and Headphone Dongle plugged in, and all devices powered on, please launch SoundSelf Professional.

  9. SoundSelf Professional will automatically connect to your new Corsair headset.

    1. NOTE: If you boot up SoundSelf Professional and once open it blinks that no device is connected, please exit SoundSelf, scroll over to the USB setting on the Kasina and click once on the center wheel to enter USB mode. Then Reboot SoundSelf.

  10. Please go to https://entheo.digital/soundself-faq if you have any issues with your setup.

  11. Enjoy!

Remember that SoundSelf is designed to be played lying down, or reclined, with headphones, and that the MindPlace glasses are designed to be experienced with eyes-closed.

Note: You can change the strobe brightness with the 🔆 buttons on the side of the Kasina device.

If you are interested in upgrading to a vibroacoustic solution, please email support@entheo.digital.

Step 3: SoundSelf is ready! Here are some tips for facilitation:

  • Treat the technology itself with respect and courtesy, as you would a ceremonial sacrament.

  • SoundSelf is designed to be experienced lying down, with headphones on and eyes closed.

  • If possible, allow the intensity of the experience to be carried through light intensity (adjusted with the 🔆 buttons on the side of the Kasina device), rather than headphone volume (which can cause discomfort).

  • Guide your client into the experience gently. Make sure they are comfortable, that their shoes have been removed, their pockets have been emptied, and that any potential distractions are silenced.

  • Likewise, help them exit the experience with serene care. When they have finished their session, touch them gently on the shoulder to ground them before helping them remove the head gear. Encourage the client to rest and take their time before sitting up and speaking. This silent time is critical for integration. We recommend offering them a throat soothing cup of tea.

  • 20 Minutes is the recommended time length for a therapeutic session.

  • You may use these marketing tools to help potential clients understand your new offering.

 FAQs

Is my AVS unit on?

Although the glasses control unit looks like it is on, it is only charging, press and hold the power button to turn it on, then select the "USB option".

SoundSelf isn’t Strobing.

Confirm that you are in USB mode on the Kasina, and that you are using the “Spectrastrobe/Audiostrobe” style.

My glasses are still not lit up, now what?

Make sure the aux cord that is plugged into the glasses is also plugged into the bottom of the control unit in the aux port with the icon of the glasses directly underneath it.

My headphones do not have sound coming out of them once the AVS glasses are lit up, what should I do?

Make sure your headphones are plugged directly into your computer, and that your operating system is using your computer headphones as the default audio output (sometimes the computer changes the audio output to the AVS glasses, which is incorrect).

I did all these steps and am still unable to run the AVS SoundSelf experience, anything else to be mindful of?

Restart SoundSelf after these changes are made.
